Sonoma Valley Film Festival

Hi again,

Dave And Elizabeth recently traveled to Sonoma Valley for the "Sonoma Valley Film Festival". Probably one of the most extravagant festivals ever. Hollywood's all over this thing. Micheal Keaton was the guest of honor.

http://www.sonomafilmfest.org/

We had 2 films accepted in Sonoma; "MFA" and "Festival Experience". So we definitely have bragging rights.
The parties were scattered all over the Sonoma Wine Country. They were just fantastic. The mix of people varied. But for the most part, people were interested and engaged in film making and animation.

Women started to perform with flaming blocks on chains.

OK, so surrounded by millionaires, in hoydy-toydy land - Elizabeth puts a home-made pickle on her head. She became an icon. The people, wherever we went, whatever we were doing, they instantly recognized her, and began to give her gifts on the street. It's probably her personality that's magic... but I wouldn't loose that hat. :-)

Here's Dave, taking a moment in the sun at one of the many Wineries.

Here's Elizabeth doing her best "snooty" sniff of wine.

What?... Oh, come on, the wine tastings only give you a little bit, but that's pushing it.

It wasn't all fun and games. A Q&A after the Animated Shorts.

Spot the Pickle!!

Stay Tuned, more to come!!

Smoke break between film sets.
Small but very classy theater.

Dave with the creators of the BHSF. Lauren and Daniel Martone. (don't know who the nice lady on the far right is, sorry.)

Two winners in the Horror section, William Van Cuyck directed "Love Crazy" a short about a serial killer "who thinks he's John Cusack." http://jujuhoundproductions.com/ And Sergio Pinheiro, writer/Director of "The Procedure" a pretty sweet short that calls back to the good ole days of sci-fi. Very well done. Check out his work at http://thedonnybrook.com/

THE MAG

Elizabeth has offered up some great pics from the Magnolia Film Festival. Aside from the parties, the drinking, the horseplay, and the debauchery, I hear they showed some films too.

This picture says it about the “Magnolia Independent FilmFestival”; good food, great conversations, constant learning. Best fest ever! www.magfilmfest.com

Daniel Lee one cool dude and filmmaker. His company Suicide Kings Films is responsible for remaking 50 and 60’s cult horror classics. His latest film Memphis Zombie Attack: The Documentary” was side-splitting fun. www.myspace.com/suicidekingfilms

Early morning shot of just a few filmmakers and loyal crew of the “Magnolia Film Festival.” They transported all of us around the area and put up with our debauchery.

Example of our work at the MSU campus.

This festival kept the food coming. We ate till we burst.

Dan Masucci attacked the triple decker “MugShot Burger.” Dan’s films were hear-felt and had a camera that constantly moved throughout the film. And yet, it was not distracting, but aided in focusing out attention. Wonderful. www.lettinggofilm.com

Local filmmaker Stephen Lehman showed his film “Connections” during the festival.

Mary Cates and Todd Tinkham drove from North Carolina to attend. They work together on many short films. Their work is sincere and sensitive. They contain a palatable beauty which is rare to find. In March they are overseeing the www.allamericanfilmfestival.com

Rob, can’t say enough good things about this man. He’s a hoot. A loyal crew member of the festival. He even got up early on Saturday to head up the workshop. Good job Rob!

The media was present throughout the festival, even to watch us eat.

The Hollywood Premier Cinemas held the festival. The theaters were clean and the prices of snacks was affordable. Good sound and comfortable seating. Good times.

The festival was so exciting, there were nurses on hand to help the swooning audience. Elizabeth is appears elated.

Packed house on Saturday night. In fact, Friday and Saturday night shows were sold out. People were actually turned away. Impressive!

Scott T. Jones in the foreground while Adam Bolt speaks during the Q and A Saturday night. CK Lichenstein looks on in his red shirt. Find Scott’s film at www.talilifilms.com Adam’s at www.vanishedacres.com and CK’s at www.blueprintfilms.com

The Pickle's Been Plugged

Last night was the opening night party for the Beverly Hills Shorts Festival. Dave mingled for a bit, and then had the chance to be interviewed by Gordon Vasquez of RealTVFilms.com. Dave managed to get "picklemanproductions.com" mentioned in the 6 minute intervew about a 90 second film.

The interview should be up on their website shortly.
